Rear replacement glass

Featured Replies

I got a new rear replacement glass, and the view through rear view mirror is not clear like it used to be on original glass, its somewhat "wrinkled" (like looking through the water). Of course I have complained and they ordered another replacement glass and guess what, the view is the same?

un f*cking believable

Is the new glass covered in a protective plastic film - they often are and it is not always obvious, if so remove the film and all will be clear.

Obviously not, and its delivered from the dealer.

Its just like they use low quality replacement glass, I dont have other explanation...

Sorry miss read, I thought you meant a new glass for the rear-view mirror, I guess you mean the rear window.

I would try a proper heavy duty glass cleaner on it as it may come with a protective film - not plastic but a chemical based protection for shipping, I have had this on a new windscreen and after a good clean it was perfect, the fitter did clean it but not very well.  Can not remember what I used but there are several threads on glass cleaning under the detailing thread in Car Care.

Looks like grass is distorted, like when you look through water slightly,  you get "rippled" image, I dont think there could be anything on the glass. Also, if you look closely, the glass has a lot of dots embedded inside it, not sure what this is.
