My Rather Fast Route To Skoda

Featured Replies

I thought this may be of some interest to the petrol (diesel) heads on here.

Two weeks ago I was the proud owner of the car below - 14 plate, E63S Wagon, running a stage two tune of map and RADO downpipes - 726hp and 888 ft/lbs torque.

Hours of fun - right up to the point where a gang of 5 hoodies smashed their way int the house at 10pm (we were all up) recently and demanded the keys.

Did I hand them over? - of course I did.

I was on my 4th E Class estate (including 2 E63's), and bought them because of the carrying capacity.

So, under fear of it happening again, and needing the same carrying capacity, there really was only one choice, and I bought my 2015, 16K Superb Elegance estate, which (so far) is excellent.

What price peace of mind for me and the family?

Sheeesh, this is the biggest thing putting me off a Golf, are you located in one of the cities thats been having this kinda thing happening a lot?

Glad you're ok anyway, not a nice thing to happen. Shame, you Merc looked lovely too!

Thank you - it's commonplace here, and there doesn't seem to be an easy answer - people are being dragged out of their cars or violated in their own homes - truly horrible.

It makes me sick that we have to consider this when we are choosing a car :(

Absolutely.

My cars are my hobby - I took the Merc to meets all over the country and as a side effect of this event, that hobby been taken away overnight.

I was just about to go to bed when I read this. I wish I hadn't ... what a world.

It gets worse - they wrote off my wife's Focus by damaging it to get to mine - they smashed the side window, dropped the handbrake and let it roll down our sloping drive, across the road and onto some low steel railings.

I've had to promise my youngest that the car (which has now been recovered at MB) won't be brought home again - ever. He's scared :(.

Similar thing happened to my friend and neighbour over the road here in Worcester with his M3 though his keys were downstairs and they just took them without waking him and his wife and he woke with the car starting, had the louder exhaust option.  One of the crew that broke in was a trained locksmith who had gone bad. They smashed the car up after a few miles.  Car would have been out of the country in a day or two in a container probably.

Lots of visible alarms now.  A couple of decent sized dogs can help too.

Fair play to you mate, Everyone loves a hero however when it comes to your family they can have what ever they're after.

The Merc looks absolutely stunning and sorry for your loss, It's such a common theme And it almost seems easier than it ever has been to steal cars even though technology's advancing for the good and bad.....these b***ards will get what they want one way or another buddy just glad your all safe.

Thank you - it was most unpleasant.

@developer welcome to the fold... Even though it is via rather unsavoury circumstances.

Really sorry about what happened, horrible way to lose your car.

Are you planning to mod the Superb?  Would be a interesting process to follow.

No - not at this stage - the only mod I need is to get Columbus out of the dark ages - it's not very intuitive or user friendly :(.
