Radio not powering on.

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a Fabia VRS. I just replaced the head unit with a Pioneer AVH-290bt. It was all working fine for about half and hour. Then it turned off. I've sourced the problem to be there is no power to the radio on the ignition wire. I've checked the fuse and it's fine. Does anyone know what else it could be?

Thanks.

You have to swap the red and yellow wires around. Have you done that?  Also, if going from a standard head unit to an aftermarket one you need a signal booster.

I have tried switching the cables and nothing happened. The radio isn't powering on at all.

What happens if you disconnect the radio unit, do you get power back on the 12 volt feed ? ( I guess you are calling this the ignition wire ? )

do you have a spare 12 volt battery you could use to feed the radio ( completely removed from car wiring of course,

try refitting original radio to prove all radio connections and aerial booster etc

Have you checked the fuse on the back of the head unit?

There are 2 fuses... 10 and 45.

I had tried the unit in another car at it powers on. There is nothing wrong with the unit. Including the fuse - which I have checked. My problem is I am not getting any power from the yellow wire. I have refit the original unit and it will not turn on either with the ignition. However, if you use the knob it will.
