Hi all , 

Hope you can help me . The bonnet wire is broken and I cannot open the bonnet however I try. Is there a way of getting into it . 

Its a Mk1 Octavia

Can you put it on the ramp and take engine undertray off? Then you should be able to reach bonnet lock or grab the cable.

I dont have access to a ramp unfortunatly :(

You could try and remove the middle lower grille, but putting it on a ramp would be better as you'll have a much better view of the bonnet catch.

@trc @Lyminton - I had a similar issue, but the catch was just jammed. A mechanic at the local garage was able to release the catch by reaching through the grille with a BIG screwdriver whilst I lifted the bonnet so it would rise onto the safety catch when he released the latch.

It now gets regular doses of white spray grease.

Just an update, I couid nt manage to open it , so a trip to the local garage , who managed to get it open from below on a ramp with the covers of .very relieved now ! I will make sure it is well greased in future !
