Kufatec Fiscon removal?

I've just put my Octavia VRs on the road, and realised it has a Kufatec Fiscon unit installed. I managed to get some songs playing over A2DP, though I wasn't overly impressed with the sound quality.

 

I was originally planning on buying and fitting an OEM bluetooth module to properly integrate with the Bolero (or the Columbus, if I upgrade). Is the OEM unit noticeably better than the Fiscon?

 

Also, where is the Fiscon generally installed in the car? Is it often somewhere on the firewall (car or engine side)?
