EGR Advise

Featured Replies

So my Yeti has only done 38.000 mile, but whilst traveling around Wales this week the glow plug light came on and started flashing and went in to limp mode. After stopping for a while and starting the car again, the light was off and the car ran fine but from then on and got us back to Sussex.

I have filled the car and added some additive for now but guessing this will be the egr valve

I know it can be deleted but can it be deleted whilst the valve is still working so it's in the closed state as if blanked? Or can it be blanked easily unlike having to replace the valve, mine being the 110 2wd model. Does anyone know people in sussex who can delete the egr from the system? guessing I would need to advise the insurance company as it's a mod of some sort

Thanks All

Glenn

I presume you made the mistake of having the fix to see this happen at such a low mileage.

If so straight back to the dealer for them to fix under the extended warranty following the fix..

Then consider a remap to sort out the issue and revert to near prefix operation of that component and also release about 30 more ps as the manufacturers warranty has expired, unless you want to keep the warranty for other suspect parts like the DPF.

If you alter the egr this extended warranty will be void and I understand if found it would fail the mot  as an illegal mod?

No it’s not been near the dealer and won’t be.

Not sure of the life its had before me but it get regular good runs and 550 mile round trip to wales each month. I might be wrong about the egr but with all the problems they have I am guessing not. Need to get a fault code. Mi d You it did happen after I did a fuel top up earlier in the day, which might have had something to do with it. Just a very low mileage to have this sort of issue

I hadn't noticed the age and mileage, could well not be doing enough long trips, to keep the components clean and healthy?

We have a 2013 diesel Fabia for my wifes main use and after I bought it at a year old realised that it was not really the right car for her use at around 4k a year. Fortunately she likes to go to York once or twice a week at 45 miles return and that seems to have kept the engine healthy so far. (She had a diesel fabia before that for 8 years, but that did not have all this emission control stuff to go wrong)
