noise from engine when 1st 2nd gear advice please

Featured Replies

Car was making a noise from engine especially in 1st, 2nd gear, called AA and they said the pipe to air box had come loose, they  taped and cable tied it, noise seems a bit better, but still there

going to book it into garage for service and for it to be fixed, but before I take it in any opinions as with being a girlie, don't want the garage to try a fleece me, not sure what the actual tube is

car in question s a skoda 1.2 2010, noise doesn't seem to be there after 3rd gear

Noise might not be there in higher gears as you won't be putting so much power through the engine... Might just be sucking of air to engine as they said it was a leaking hose and you might just now be more aware of it. Not sure of the pipes name, it might be better to ask a main dealer by popping the bonnet and showing them the pipe as it could be worth replacing if it is still more leaky than intended. I am sure they will be happy to have a two minute look for you, it will most likely increase their male ego! Some people LIKE extra noise and purposely try to increase the sucking/turbo spin/dump valve noise in order to sound 'Cool" (Silly boys with men's toys):D

The sexism on this reply IS intended as humour, as you did describe yourself as a 'Girlie'. I am turning the tables back on us men so don't worry, REAL men can take it!
