Columbus route

Featured Replies

If I set a route on my Columbus, travel a portion off-the-peg route and for whatever reason, brew stop for instance, and stop turning the engine off then the route plan is lost. I go to recent destinations and the route postcode I used isn't there, so if I've can't remember the postcode I'm stuffed.

why does the route get deleted if I stop and why isn't the postcode saved under last destination automatically?

Some more detail would help. Which Columbus system are you using, what car is it fitted in, has it ever worked correctly, have you just bought the car, have you just retrofitted the Columbus, etc.

I have a Columbus MIB1 and it does neither of the things that you describe. If I stop at a service station for tea, on restart it picks the route back up again and it always remembers any destination I have been to.

Factory install in a Yeti. Whatever Columbus would be fitted in a 60 plate.

I hardly use it but I'm sure the destination folder used to populate whenever I did use it. I've had the car 4 years.

Same unit as this.

Come to think of it recently I tried saving a destination, went through the whole process, even renamed it but couldn't find it anywhere afterwards.

Then it's a first generation Columbus unit. Sounds like it has a corrupted software or internal flash memory. Both are simple fixes really if I had the unit here. Software you could do yourself if you feel inclined, but I rather think its the flash memory corruption at fault as this stores the user data for such as the nav destinations.

Thanks for that, no idea how to do either of these things

Well, you're not too far from me up in North Yorks. If you wanna drive up some time I'll sort it for you. Or you could pull the unit out and post it to me.

PMd you thanks.
