Camshaft dimensions (Felicia 135 engine)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently ordered an Engitec camshaft (278°/270°) for my 1996 Felicia (1,3MPi - 135 engine). After changing the timming chain for a new one, i found out that the Engitec camshaft doesn't fit in the engine:

Anyone who have a original Skoda camshaft (135 engine) could really help me by giving the values in red (in mm):

Thanks,

I don't have a 135 Cam handy, but I've got the next best thing: An old Kent SK6 rally Cam lying around. I know this fits because when it was in my original Felicia engine, the car ran, but the idle was too rough to pass an MOT!. The two dimensions of my SK6 are;

Front Journal(nearest the Cam wheel bolt.): 39mm

Middle Journal: 38.25mm

I have the same Engitec Cam fitted in my car at the moment, but I wasn't aware that the Journal sizes were different to standard?;

After failing with the SK6 I refitted the standard Camshaft, and went back for an MOT retest, which passed. Then I acquired the Engitec Cam, but I had a spare engine from my old Favorit, which I decided to use the Engitec in because of the freedom to build an exhaust without a Catalytic converter due to the pre-cat age of the engine. the Engitec Cam slotted straight in whilst I was re-conditioning, and so I never thought to compare any measurements..

Camshaft size changed in 1997. Early MPIs had 39/38,5 , after 8/1997 they changed to 40,5/40.

As you have 96 model, you'll need BMM/Favorit cam.

So i decided to give my camshaft to a profesionnal to resize it. Now it's at 39/38,5, is it okay to run with ?
