Traffic warning error on sat nav?

Featured Replies

My car tells me each time that I want to use or cross the A6120 Leeds ring road that there is queuing traffic. If planning a route it ends up changing the route to avoid it, regardless of time, eg 10pm when clear.

Looking at this the traffic information(TMC)  says there is a 6 mile queue on the ring road at Adel. However this seems to be stuck in the memory and is always there.

Is there any way to flush the traffic warnings and start again as I suspect that this message was received months ago and has not been expired?

looking in the manual, is there a way of resetting the HU?  or even an  option in the settings?

I suspect it's not the sat-nav but a broadcast not being updated.
What radio station is broadcasting that one?

No idea, its just there when I look at the TMC page on the unit

I get the same when coming home from work and crossing the M6 near Birmingham.

As I'm not using the sat nav I ignore it. Could do with removing it though.

On my Amundsen+ unit, with any road in the TMC list, I'm sure that I can select 'details' for it and it tell me which radio station produced it?

When it shows the traffic problem in TMS touch the one that affects you and it will have what radio station is broadcasting it and the system that picked it up at the bottom.
Go into TMS as soon as you switch it on and see if that one is there, mine has nothing for a couple of minutes then the list is populated as they are updated.
I don't believe that one will be there until the list is updated showing that it is not stuck in memory but a constant transmit by the radio station.

Your right, it does load it, and it comes in last, but then sits at the top of the list.

However even selecting it does not give any information as to which station is transmitting this erroneous report.

The one for the A6120, 6 mile queue at Adel must be diverting hundreds of cars off the ring road for no reason. There is another saying a 6 mile queue on the M60 with a diversion through the centre of Manchester which must be catching out loads of drivers; nearly followed the diversion myself last week, but then realised it would show on the gantries and stuck with the M60 which was quieter than usual. Probably all diverting through the city!!

Not sure who manages this data transmission and who to complain to.

As the Leeds one has been there for as long as I have had the car, over three months, no-one can be auditing these, and it makes a mockery of the whole system if our satnavs are diverting around non existent traffic issues, sometimes through a more congested route.

I have posted on the Ofcom facebook visitor page about this issue as they don't give out an email address, and the phone is quite expensive to call and only during office hours.

I have the A6120 6 mile hold up via my local radio station on my Amundsen II.
The information is transmitted from Trafficmaster.

Have you updated the satnav itself???

Could be with a try.

The sat nav downloads the tmc data fresh every time it is switched on.

Hence can’t be the unit, must be a faulty broadcast.

  • 2 weeks later...

The TMC on my display also shows the A6120 and M60 announcements

I have had a reply from Ofcom, aparenty nothing to do with them and referred me to Highways England.

Highways England have skimmed my message, not understood it, and told me to contact Skoda as the sat nav must be defective, because the traffic information they suply is always up to date.

I have replied to this asking them to review their answer. Looks like they provide good up to date traffic information, but no one monitors the quality of how this is passed on!
