New Stereo Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have brought and fitted a JVC KW-V235dbt using a PC2-75-4 fitting cable and dash mount kit looks amazing and as factory fitted however there is one tiny problem, i have swapped the yellow and red cables so it goes yellow to red rather then red to red and yellow to yellow and no matter which way cables are the stereo wont turn on or off unless i manually turn it off. The Red Cable on the PC2-75-4 if pulled cuts all power to the stereo and nothing will work so i assume this is the problem wire just unsure what i need to do to fix this. I know on one post here they talked about wiring to a fuse however lots of people seemed to have fitted aftermarket stereos with no problems so just wondering if there is a fix with a not so drastic rewire to the car

The red and yellow was for the old school wiring, different on yours I’d think, what year is your car as the wiring is different across the age.

Ah explains my confusion it is a 12 plate

I have a feeling that radio isn’t really suitable for your car without an adaptor, I’m just not sure which one.

The quad lock wiring loom uses more of a “wake up signal” to switch on and off, NOT a switched live from the ignition.

Thats why people use canbus modules when fitting the newer radios into older cars, I’m not sure what happens when fitting the older radio into a newer car though!

Thanks for help on this it has been a difficult one to figure out and explains why all connections showed live on volt meter Hmm so as this is a 2017 stereo I might need to get the adaptor with steering controller then swap canbus with the original one from car possibly
