Thank you.

FYI : They were turned off as a EU directive some years back, as an annoying unwanted noise that disturbs local residents. Or some such.

Which probably means beeping would be an mot failure. Probably not tho! :)

Skoda has passed two MOT's with the lock and unlock beep fine! I used carista and a cheap amazon 10 quid wifi obd2 dongle! :)

ooh! £10 dongle? does allow me to do things with android apps on my phone to read my car data?

With Android you have to use a Bluetooth adaptor or wifi. Apple doesn't work with Bluetooth hence WiFi.

But having a OBD2 dongle will allow you to change the settings of the car (not loads but the lock and unlock beep is on there) using Carista which doesn't cost much. I diagnosed my DPF sensor failure using that app also set needle sweep in start up, the lock beep, unlock all doors on one press and big MPH on maxidot.

I also use the dongle with an app called DashCmd which allows me to see all the intake sensors, coolant sensors, boost, etc etc on like a virtual dash board!

Tbh I would say having a wifi / bluetooth dongle in your car is always very helpful if your car throws a fault you can read it / clear it and it also works on other cars too.

I have this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/LUJII-Interface-Wireless-Diagnostic-Scanner-Wifi-Ver/dp/B01EDICW1Y/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1510158772&sr=8-6&keywords=obd2
