presuming you have no leaks, the amount you would ever need to top it up with would be so small that just putting distilled water in would be fine, in fact any clean water wouldn't hurt it.

I bought a bottle of the pink pre-mixed VW group coolant for topping up. My experience shows that  VW group cars can lose a little bit of coolant in the first year but after that no top up is needed. I like mine topped up to the 'max' when cold and have not had any overflows when hot.
