Reverse camera failure

Featured Replies

Hi all. Got a curly one here. Skoda yeti 2016. Put car in reverse. Front and rear sensors sound off but nothing comes up on the screen including the reverse camera. Any ideas?? Am i missing something obvious? Cheers!!

Is the rest of the infotainment system working?

Has it worked in the past?

How long have you had the car?

Yep. All working ok. Had the car from new since june 2016. One time the camera failed due to the boot not being closed properly but all good this time. I'm out of ideas tbh.

Are your reversing lights working?

Still in warranty so let dealer sort it.

Just didn't want to get to dealers and the guy leans in and pushes a button and hey presto! I need to make sure it's an actual fault.

It gets worse. Just checked the reverse lights. All working and now the camera working again which means, of course, it'll never happen for the tech looking at it! Wife just told me it's been happening on and off for months but never mentioned it until i noticed it whilst driving it for the first time for weeks. Defo a warranty issue but I've a feeling this will go on for a while :-(

Not related directly but I have seen intermittent faults with power supply to boot lid caused by water ingress because the wiring loom had rubbed against the body and created a hole. Might be worth a look.

Cheers! I'll take a look.

Also, I've solved quite a few issues by unplugging various connectors, ensuring they are in good order and plugging them back in. My Octavia high level brake light used to do this once a year. Good luck.

Are the symptoms identical if you do leave the hatch lid open? I'm wondering if you have a boot dodgy switch....

Does the hatch shows as shut on the Maxidot?

I reckon you might be right as it is identical to when the boot was open. I'll check in more detail today. Cheers!

Yep. Shows as shut. Last time the boot was ever so slightly ajar but didn't seem to be enough to trigger the maxidot. Either that or as suggested by another, ive got a problem with the boot catch. Luckily still under warranty so ill check the obvious and then book in with dealer. Cheers!!

A further thought; does your boot interior light work? I seem to remember that there is a bit of electronic wizardry in that area of the wiring involving a diode. If the bulb has blown maybe that could upset things with the camera?
