Another Mk2 fl tdi CR or TFSI thread

Featured Replies

Hi all,

long story short... the front end has been ripped off of my 07 Fabia Ltd in a parking lot while parked by a van. Looks to be a write off.. :’-(

I am therefore looking at an fl mk2 hatchback Octavia vrs But cannot decide whether to stick with the dirty diesel or migrate to the petrol. I currently drive around 12k a year and the fabia has been a little gem over the last 5 years with it’s nippyness & mpg.

I now have an expanding family and I know I want more power so I am steering towards a manual with full leather and a tfsi but I am concerned about the cam chain tensioner issue.

Is is it a luck of the draw regarding the tfsi’s? What is he likelyhood of getting a decent petrol with around 60k? Any way of checking that it has the latest chain tensioner?

Is there much noticeable difference between the diesel and petrol power wise?

Even though I have kept the Fabia stock I am likely to get the new car mapped. I assume you would get the most gain out of the petrol?

Are Re there as many known issues with the tdi compared to the petrol.

Any input welcome.

Cheers...
