Which discs and pads needed please?

Featured Replies

I am changing my discs and pads soon, I already ordered the parts with advice from carparts4less but looking again there are a few different options for my 2010 MK2 VRS octavia petrol. I am not too sure how to read the PR codes fully etc so will add all relevant info here. I reckon I have messed the order up! On the website when putting my registration in these are the options...

The front discs are all 312mm diameter and the rear there is a choice of 272mm or 282mm...

The pads on the site have the option of PR number 1LL or 1ZP for the front and 1KP and 1KS/1KT for the rear...

Do i require 282mm rear discs or 272mm? Also which pads please for front and rear?

I ordered 312mm front discs and 272mm rear discs and PR 1LL pads for the front and PR 1KP pads for the rear.  I feel I may have got the rear discs and pads wrong.

I appreciate any help on this learning curve!

Fronts on vrs are always 312mm x 25mm. There should be a matching pad.

Rears are either 282 or 272mm for fl mk2. In your case yours are 1KT 272mm.

Just get pads matched to that disc option. 1KS or 1KT are the same for rears, I think the difference was caliper colour.

Yes, they will let you exchange in unused condition. They have to anyway, under 14 day distance selling regs.  I'm not sure why they would supply those pads with 272mm discs.  The set ups go together and I don't think those pads would ever be used with the 272mm disc but anyway.......

To be honest I am not sure, this is the first time I have used ECP or CP4L.

It does say "There is more than one choice of part for your vehicle. Please select the correct 'Brake Pads' by checking the 'Fitment Detail' tab." and of the two types it is my mistake I picked the wrong ones. Not a huge difference between them but enough I guess to be a wrong fit and I do not want to get this wrong :D

Correct ones as asvised...

Ones I ordered...

I will return the wrong ones to CP4L and pick the correct ones up from ECP, works out roughly the same with the discount code I can use,

thanks so much :)

Carparts4 less and Eurocarparts are one and the same. They are ok. With discounts, their pricing is pretty good. Delivery on carpart4less is always very good no issues there. ECP have a lot of branches and that makes them convenient and their pricing can be reasonable.

Unfortunately,  the parts checker on both ECP and CP4L is not that good, especially where there are multiple derivatives of models. You need to cross reference to other data or if you call them they usually can check on other systems for more re-assurance....

Ok, I understand.

Thank you for all the advice. It's good to know before I try to get them fitted :D

Just got round to having these fitted, turns out the back discs are 282mm and the pads are the original ones I bought, haha typical!

Strange. That is the first time the PR code sticker has been wrong as 1KT is always 272mm disc with Bosch Caliper. If I am recalling correctly, the 282mm disc was used with a different design TRW / lucas caliper. Unless someone has changed them but it wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade really...

I don't think they were changed, they look like originals. Bit of a strange one I guess. Car had one previous owner, but perhaps he had something changed that I don't know about!

Would it not have been simpler to just measure?

Sadly I wasn't in a position to be able to get the wheel of for an accurate measurement!
