Fitting new cruise/indicator stalk

Im fed up with flashing my high beams every time i try to set the cruise control or adjust the speed with it. I try to be as careful as possible but still manage it sometimes. Coming along the motorway and go to cancel cruise control as i'm coming up behind some slower moving cars, hit the high beams by accident so the Golf in front of me decides to brake check.

Im guessing the springs in the unit are weaker than they should be as i don't have any issues with the wiper stalk on the other side.

How easy would it be to change the stalk to the newer style one with the two adjustment buttons on the end of the stalk?
