Sachs shock absorbers

Featured Replies

I'm going to be collecting parts to refresh the front suspension on my 2010 Superb estate 170CR 4X4.

Euro car parts list two Sachs shock absorbers for the front, one is described as for vehicles with sports suspension, the other for vehicles with increased ground clearance. I realise the spring dictates the ride height,i don't plan on lowering my car, just wondered what peoples opinions were on the two choices?  I'm leaning towards the increased ground clearance option as mine is 4x4.

I'd lean the same way as you for the 4x4, but what about the vast majority of non-sport or 4x4 Superb's, what are they supposed to choose!?

Interestingly I fitted my winter wheels yesterday and gave the suspension a good wash and grease, I noticed the 'Sach's' stickers on my shocks.

Ha,me too!  It got me thinking that the Sachs shocks from eurocar parts could be the same as oe

The springs have painted dots on them to identify spring rate. Each spring should have a matching shock absorber. Consult a VW parts specialist to make sure you get the right suspension bits.

Watching this with interest as I have a saggy rear end.

Here are the dots you will be looking for (note mine are the lowered factory sports suspension), and the paint codes below....

I had Sachs as original option and for 200 km I replaced them after 160K km with KYB Excel - G for comfort ride.

Probably a stupid question, but why is that hub a 4bolt arrangement when these use 5bolt wheels?

Sorry I uploaded a incorrect photo, from a Peugeot 207.
