1.8tsi hiccup/stuttering only during a cold start

Featured Replies

I currently have a 1,8tsi and every time I start the car the engine hesitates before firing up sometimes it dies and usually on the second try it fires up.

This mostly happens on a cold start (or 1 start of the day) as the problem disappears after the engines warmed up. The ambient temperate is around 23C and my battery is normal.

The service center hasn't been able to identify anything wrong and even the scan doesn't throw up any errors. Any ideas as to the problem?

Ive attached the video showing todays startup. Generally if the car wasn't used for some time its much worse and stutters/hiccups much more before coming to life.

isasda66, Which country are you in?

How many Miles or km has the car done.

What servicing recently, Spark Plugs,   fresh Air Filter, ever had the fuel filter changed?

hi mate,, iam in scotland my car was first serviced at 9k, (oil&filter changed) then got a full engine service at 17k (oil&filter changed also the fuel filter and air filter), its on 25k its got another 2k to go for its next service there i will give it another full engine service including the pollen filter, it could be a bad fuel filter but i will wait till its next service to see if the problem is still there before it goes in to skoda,, i will get it in to my garage in the next 2 weeks as am close to 1k miles per week with my job ,, i hope this helps you
