Engine query

Featured Replies

Friend just bought a VW up. She was telling me it's 60 ps Tsi but I said Tsi means Turbo Stratified Injection and they only do that at 90ps on the Up.

She promptly produced her paperwork from the VW dealer and it clearly say 60 ps Tsi.

As she has not yet picked up the car I suggested she rang the dealer. When she did the dealer said all the Up petrol engines are referred to as Tsi and that the T did not refer to Turbo.

So are they right, have I been all this time under an illusion thinking that VW Tsi engines are all Turbo ?

Incidentally I have the Mii 74ps and it's an Mpi.

The 60bhp UP isn't turbocharged

60 & 75 bhp models are normally aspirated with the MPi engine

90/102/114 bhp models are turbocharged with the TSi engine

She contacted VW who have apologised and told her there's a mistake on the brochure. :giggle: Phew, you do worry about going senile at my age but seems I'm still okay.
