high guys

i have read alot on how to enter the code and comfort code so not a problem there

the problem is

the radio comes up safe then goes to 1000 but i can not enter the code there is a number 1 in the left hand corner

i do have radio code in hand book

the radio stopped working when i had a power surge and said stop driving somethink to do with power steering maybe this knocked out t comfort code

i have disconnected the live lead and crossed it with the neutral to get rid of any electrical thingy's

Does your radio have npreset numbers just below the screen? On my Ibiza radio the first four preset buttons (1,2,3,4) are used to enter the code.

 

I.e press button 1  3 times if digit one is at 1 but your code starts with 4

press button 2    6 times if digit two is 6

 

And so on for the next two digits

 

Then hold down the scan button i think?

Or maybe just wait?

what im getting is 1000 but there is the number 1 in left hand corner and wont accept my code

yes ive left it on to clear previous attempt turn engine on then turned radio on but nothink happends

i have the serial number as well as the code

ive managed to input the code held in the forward button and got the beep

but the radio display said safe and the number 1 in the left corner change to 2

 

can any one help me out

Sounds like you have the wrong code.  

its the code in the book

ive read lots on this subject but nowhere can i find any think that mentions

 the number 1 to the left of the number 1000 and when i input the code

it changes to number 2 /1000

I have just had to enter ours. I think the 1 and 2 May be the number of tries you have had. After you have had 2 goes it locks you out for an hour. There should be a 4 figure code. Once 1000 comes up you use the 1 key to enter the first number by tapping till you get the right one then the same for the second but using the 2 key and so on till you do the last with 4. Once 1000 is replaced with your number press the play button for a couple of seconds and all shoul be fine. (Mine came up LEARN after that but I ignored that and it returned to the radio.

ive done all that with no joy even had the unit out and the serial code

SKZAZA9F ####### is same as in the book

 

Sounds right. Mine is SKZAZ8C and a seven figure code then the four figure code is below that on the sticker in a bigger text.

the only other number was sk 0015 thats not the same in the book but i'll try it

in a hr's time

can not input nothink now 

All I can think is the surge fried something. The serial number matched the book so the code should be right. The book doesn't say anything about shutting you out completely like that, it implies you get unlimited tries if you're prepared to wait an hour each time. Got me foxed, maybe someone else can suggest something.
