  • Out of loyalty to Edd I won’t be watching.

  • I have to agree re the white wheels. Had a set of 5 spokes on a white Subaru Legacy Turbo back in the early 90’s and it looked very nice......but it was ‘rally’ inspired I suppose....   As f

  • If they can just give Mike Brewer his P45 all will be good. http://ant-anstead.co.uk

Watching it myself. So much more enjoyable and informative without that kittens Brewer.

I like Mike Brewer. He really is a car guy and works really hard for the show (I've worked with a couple of guys who did the original British show, they reckoned he was OK). I admit he over acts something rotten, but then again, thats something of a British staple for Presenters on UK motor shows.

So sad watching Ant last night.  I wanted to love it.

They are going to drag out that programmes as long as they can 'American TV style',  repeat bits over and over again .

Not so sure that chassis is an original and had not already been replaced.   Experts will be able to tell.

I'm enjoying watching the process. It's a right hodgepodge of a car, but it should look stunning and after all he built it with his own hands.

I know a lot of people don't care for Ant, but his enthusiasm and skills are hard to dispute, I reckon. He also isn't afraid to get 'stuck in' something that was levelled at Ed China before he left Wheeler Dealers.

I agree, the USA style of dragging the thing out is a little annoying, but we seem to be pretty good at doing that over on these shores these days.

Overall, I'm enjoying the show. I like a man who is good with his hands  :blush

So the new Wheeler Dealers with Elvis has hit our shores, or perhaps more accurately, never left our shores, but then the saying wouldn't make sense, so...

The show has changed a little. It's a bit more sterile imho and Elvis, being probably the most qualified mechanic the show has ever had, is not so good at explaining stuff to laypeople like me. I loved the way Ant would take a white pen and show with a simple drawing what he was trying to achieve, or perhaps explain a process that was germane to the rebuild. He also isn't as enthusiastic as Any, at least to my eyes, but I'm sure he will grow on me. I don't doubt his mechanical chops, that's for sure. I hope he does a spot of fabricating, as I found the body stuff that Ant did to be utterly fascinating. I struggle to roll a bit of pastry, let alone take on the challenge of the English wheel.

When, which channel? I'm not forking out for the Disco channel or subscribing to their catch up service so I'll probably have to wait until it's on DMAX or Quest. I seem to recall reading (I forget where now) that Ant had put down roots in the US of A but would be making occasional appearances on the new UK show.

Ah, it was Discovery. I have it as part of a SKY package.

I've been watching Any build his Alfa single-seater project car too. Very interesting and it gives him lots of chances to fabricate and fettle things. He is doing a lot of it by eye, rather than cam/cad design. I like... a lot :)

Thanks, Amanda. Looks like I'll be waiting a couple of months then.

Yes, been watching a bit of the Alfalfa build. Pretty interesting watching a car built from scratch.

I am now hooked on watching Ant building his Alfa Special.

His wife might make another appearance.

It was meant tongue in cheek :)

Ex - wife now.

That's 2 ex's now.

Rumour has it he was last knocking off Renne Zellerwotsit.

Blimey, I thought he was staying in America partly because his wife was settled there?

  • 1 month later...

I missed the final programmes of the build and went to look online.

Shame it had to go, looks lovely.

It was a fascinating series. He certainly seemed to make some of it up as he went along, fashioning it to his will. His Dowsett is up for sale at the NEC Classic car show next month I read somewhere.

I know you have some savings in the cellar but what's the current exchange rate between the $ against the Clooney?

The going rate for a  Clooney is...

1 x Clooney = 1 x Dino 246GTB + 1 x Lancia Stratos + 1 x 911 GT3 + a big bag of jelly snakes :)
