Just Back from Italy - Lack of power

Featured Replies

For various reasons too numerous to mention we decided to drive round in our 2007 Fabia Comfort from Northern Spain where we live to central Italy. Went all the way they and came all the way back without the slightest problem. We've been back about a week now. Anyroadup, yesterday I was out and about when all of a sudden the car seemed to lack power. Upon returning home she wouldn't in fact come up our hill - point blank refused. Last year we had an intermittent bad running problem which turned out to be a defective coil. I thought it was probably the same thing. Took Fabia to garage today, on the way the engine fault indicator was flashing on and off. Replaced all four coils and plugs. Now here's the thing, although she's now ticking over smoothly the power problem, if anything, is worse that it was before. Will not rev to 3k. Can be coaxed to 50MPH on the flat but won't go above 3k. As soon as a hill is encountered you're stuffed.
Is it running in Limp Home Mode? If so can that mode be reset? Even temporarily?
It has to be something definitive, one moment it was fine, the next no power. It feels like fuel starvation. When you press the throttle the air intake makes a roaring noise - plenty of air - but she won't pull.

Fuel starvation - pump?
Fuel starvation - filter?
Electronic throttle unit?

Mixture stuffed due to faulty Air Mass Sensor
Mixture stuffed due to faulty EGR valve?

Any thoughts thankfully received.

Run a diagnostic and that will point you in the right direction.

@Finca - Is the CEL light on? If not, then it's not in limp mode.

CEL erased using OBD reader. I can see tomorrow what the last error code was. It's a very, very simple reader, it won't run any form of diagnostics.
