Fuse advice needed

Featured Replies

Hi need some advice on which ignition live fuses are safe to piggy back onto for installing an additional dash cam hardwire kit onto.

i already have one for my dash cam which is plugged into fuse 6 .

I want to install an additional hardwire kit for my DAB Adapter but unsure which ones are only live when the ignition is on

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks

You should be able to work it out from here.
PS: if you put the piggy back adapter in the wrong way round it will not be using the fuse so will be an un-fused connection.
The fuses are as you look at them in a right hand drive Yeti.

Thanks Urrell

wasnt sure which were ignition live and which were safe to use.

how do I tell which way round is the correct way to enable a fused connection with the nextbase hardwire kit apart from plugging in and then pulling the fuse

Can't you just join the dab adapter supply to your existing piggy back fuse? The dashcam and dab adapter together won't draw much current....

Hi muddyjim

in the nextbase hardwire kit there are only 2 fuse slots ..one already populated for the dash cam and the other slot for the fuse you removed to plug the piggyback fuse in

One way I think to check what side the power is coming from is to remove fuse and probe with voltage testing probes.
Or remove the fuse from the piggy back and check that the power has been cut, if power is still there it's the wrong way round.

Or just remove the fuse from the piggyback and check that the device attached to it won't switch on when ignition is on.
