Starting Issues

Featured Replies

Hi All

So in the last week or so the car is more difficult to start. Just on and wait for the glow plug light to go out. Then when starting turnover does sort of half a turnover slowly the lights on the dash dim and then she fires up. Take it for a spin all seems ok and if I stop then come back she turns over normally as seem to start spot on as normal.

Now being that it's slow to turn over and sound like it's gonna stop, I am guessing the best place to start is the battery as guessing the glow plugs would not cause  turn over like that?

Thanks

Sounds like a weak battery, are you able to test the voltage after it's been standing overnight?

This is what I use on my car and motorcycle, quicker than getting other test equipment out.

That seems like a nice little bit of kit. Will order 1 of those.

Guess I will need to wait till the morning to test now.

Is this the 2010 Yeti?  Has it had a battery changed before?  If not, just do it before it strands you somewhere.

It does sound like a failing battery.

If the battery is original, it will be more than seven years old and nearing the end of its life.
