I appear to have an intermittent loss of canbus signal which frustratingly is becoming more frequent.

 

I've had a vcds scan which showed the lack signal, also confirmed by the hidden menu.

 

Symptoms when lost include loss of illumination at night, lack of compass and sat nav on the maxidot.

 

Can only assume wiring fault.

Anyone ever had similar and suggestions where fault may be and how fix?

I'm guessing you have a Columbus head unit, given you mention sat nav?

 

Have you tried a different head unit to see if it's the cars wiring or the actual unit at fault.

Yes it's an early Columbus. We've spoken before about faults with it. But canbus is one.

I've only the original lower spec head unit not sure which so can try that and see if illumination works ?
