Octavia mk1 hub / wheel carrier commonalities

Featured Replies

I've recently stripped the thread in the hub / wheel carrier hole used that attaches the brake caliper carrier. In my endeavour to find a replacement I came across varying sources that said that the hub / wheel carrier is both different and common across VAG products. This is also backed up by images on fleabay showing that the hubs are visible different in that the bracket that holds the brake carrier is longer / shorter and this example is between two diesel mk1s post facelift which to me means the complexity is not simple.

My understanding (or rather assumption) is that the hub would be common across different cars and those with bigger brakes would use a different brake caliper carrier. Can anyone please provide some help for a man overly enthusiastic with a long bar???

Thanks,

Ben

You can get a helicoil to rethread the stripped bolt hole to re-attach the brake calliper carrier. Or failing that you need a hub from a MK1 vRS as that will have the mounting holes in the right place for the carrier. There is a difference between some tdi's and petrol Mk1's and the Mk1 vRS all have the same unless they have been upgraded by the owner. Depending on which side it is you've stripped I've found 2 links for you.
