Pan Sunroof

Featured Replies

G'Day all. The pan sunroof on my 2014 Yeti L&K 170 rattles (irregular knocks, tapping, hard to describe but really really irritating) I have had it looked at by the dealer over the last 3 years and they have 'reset' to factory standard twice and stripped down last service but now its out of warranty and still it persists. Has anyone else had this problem and if so was it fixable? I bought the car at 4 months and 4000 miles so not sure if it was apparent brand new. Thanks All.

I would take it back to the dealer and ask them to contact Skoda to see what the situation is.

This is obviously not a new problem, it has history and they have not been able to fix it, which they should have.

I had the same on mine ,all fixed F O C as I was told it was a known problem and there was a service instruction issued to cover it,mine was done a couple of years ago and has been fine since,I would assume if the garage carried out the work they would be aware of the Skoda instruction so they could claim the cost back for their time from Skoda.

Mine had the same issue - it went to the dealer for 3 days for a total rebuild and it fixed it completely.

From what I can remember I was having the car serviced and they completed it there and then about 3-4 hr job on top of the service time.

Thanks for the replies all, very helpful and supportive, Interesting to note that there is a service instruction.. phoned dealer he said there was a SI on it and its booked in Monday. I guess I've been too easy going on the issue, hopefully 4th time lucky!? Again thanks for your help 'cause I really like the car and want to keep it.

Well the Yeti has returned from its stay at the main agent garage. Courtesy car for 2 days but sorted the same day (FOC).      The mechanic confirmed there was a SI which is I think a measurement of the rails and a bend to fit if required, he also white greased the runners (again) and put  plenty in the mechanism etc. He will redo regularly when in for services etc. To be fair its fine now but time will tell.      He said it used to be part of the Skoda service but not now, I know from Land Rover this happens (wheel bearings!) seems car makers just want to replace a failed part rather than maintain it. He also said on researching other car brands pan sunroofs are a known problem (probably due to the stress levels of the large void maybe,) personally I  like the glass effect as it brings a lot of light into the cab but it could be a fixed option as far as I am concerned as if its hot I use the climate control and if I am driving motorways etc. it is too noisy with the roof open, I will think twice of having it in future although on top range it is a standard fit.

So overall a success at the moment and I am back to liking the car!   thanks for replies and happy motoring. ( Query....why lose the Yeti and have a replacement which looks very much like the rest of the herd??)
