Hesitation 1.8t

Featured Replies

Hello this is my first time on here so please gentle lol,I've recently brought a octavia vrs mk1 1.8t and it's my first time of owning one of these brilliant cars but in the last two weeks it's developed a problem every time I accerate it feels hesitating,I took it to my local garage and they found a split breather hose the one which goes from the crankcase also the secondary air pump was broke so they replaced that and today I replaced the maf sensor and new plugs and guess what it still does it. The car appartley has been remapped by the last owner but no paperwork. When I brought the car at the beginning of December it drove really nice had power etc any help would be appreciated

Which brand MAF sensor and which plugs were fitted?

There are lots of threads about hesitation issues which will give you some starters.

Hi Tom

It's a Lucas mad sensor and the the spark plugs are ngk they are the same ones which I took out. It's so annoying the car was running lovely until a couple of weeks ago

@Dean54vrs - Have you tried asking the previous owner who did the map?

Also, it's not impossible that you may be developing a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor.

PFR6Q plugs?

People on here have had issues with non-genuine MAF sensors. You could try it with the MAF sensor unplugged and see how it runs - you'll get a warning light on the dash but it should clear once you've plugged it back in. If it runs better with the MAF sensor unplugged then replace it with a Bosch one.

Have a look at the other threads for other suggestions too.

Be worth getting scanned too, it could be a combo of a bad map and maf sensor?

Give the throttle body a good clean and replace gasket if it’s all dirty.
