Brentacre Warning - Value of car too low!

Featured Replies

So I called Brentacre to switch insurance from my Tiguan to my new purchase, a £800 Seat Cordoba. They (or the underwriters) refused to cover it as the value is too low. Apparently the claims stats on lower valued cars are too high.

Now left with a conundrum... do I go with a 'normie' insurance company and leave my car standard or play the ring around game? I've had good experiences with Greenlight in the past on my Fabia but I don't think they'll cover the Cordoba standard as they don't do normal cars (wouldn't do my Tiguan).

Oh and the Brentacre fiasco, with the fees, meant I paid ~£150 for 26 days insurance.

?

So are you not only talking about wanting insurance for a cheap car, but Modified Insurance as well?

Comparison Sites to check insurance for the Standard car even if low value.

& the Specialist Brokers are here if you want to have Declared Mods.

Yes. Because at the moment its a cheap car, later it becomes a cheap modified car.

Brentacre will insure it modded if the value of the mods take it to £1500 but I'd need to fit them immediately or be uninsured. Its not the weather for scratting about fitting coilovers etc :P

Your ability to rephrase someones post and point out the obvious is still going strong I see.

Just trying to understand what seemed like a simple heading and then what the rest was about.

Plenty insure cars without a high value, and modified.

I have 'Agreed Value' with Lancaster Insurance on a £1,000 vehicle and the cover cost me £150.

Try Admiral.

I insured a modified car and a standard car with them in November.  I mentioned future mods at the time of the quote and they told me what it would cost as an extra to the policy, of course there is an admin charge for the additions as well as the actually increase on the policy.

The only way of knowing is to get a quote, best way is to phone, better than the compare sites I found. They may even be able to add the future mods you suggest from the off, they asked me if  I wanted to but I declined as I wasn't sure, saves on the admin fee later.

I have been with Brentacre for over 10 years, had one claim, non-fault and one claim at fault, both times they were absolutely excellent, could not fault the process whatsoever, fast efficient service and with the non fault the third party was not responding to them, barely even noticed the problems they handled it so well and so professionally. They'll be getting my business on renewal!
