Wondering what the differences are between that ARL and the ASZ engine are? :confused: There's no turbo involved, which I thought was about the only real difference that made up the 20bhp.

My interpretation of it is that the PD130 is a detuned PD150. Th major differences appear to be the turbo and the ECU programming. The block and injectors are the same.

I'm actually surprised - I had been under the impression the the PD130 was a "tweaked" PD115.

The PD150 turbo is oil cooled IIRC, also I think the 150 has a front mount intercooler rather than the small side mount of the 130.

Not sure about the oil cooling of the turbo, but the 150 definately has a nice large front mount intercooler, which caused a common observation when it was launched as although the 150 was significantly more powerful at the top end of the rev range it had turbo lag at low revs. Some like it some don't.

The 100 bhp version is a re-development of the old 115 engine which was prone to early failure in some cases, hence de-tuned to give it an easier life and so as there weren't three PD engines all with similar power and more noticeably torque figures all competing with one another.

The 115 was the first incarnation of the PD engine for those that aren't already aware, and was accused of being underdeveloped in some quarters. The 160 in the Beezer Cupra TDI was, I suppose, the ultimate development of the 1.9 TDI.

The 130 turbo and the 150 turbo are similiar. Externally if put side by side you wont notice the difference. Inside the 150 has slighlty larger diameter compressor wheel and turbine and the actuator has a difference also.

The PD 160 is the same engine and injectors as the 130 and 150.
