Hi guys my gearbox is not as smooth as it was when I bought the car a year ago. It’s a 2005 Octavia VRS 2.0 petrol. The gears feel a bit resistant now when changing through them. It’s like they are grinding metal if that makes sense? The clutch feels fine, it seems just the gearbox that’s the issue. Any idea what could be causing it? It’s worse when the car is cold.

Could be clutch wearing out, clutch release bearing, any of the internal bearings or something in the final drive.  Have you checked the fluid level in case you are running out of oil (and worth looking for metal fragments in the oil too).
