How does yours start?

Featured Replies

Im new to the superb having owned a Galaxy for 8 yrs.

Now on the galaxy ,1.9 pd lump, starting was "instant" after a glowplug light went out.

The superb 2.0 takes maybe a second or 2 of turning over and starts. Is this normal for this engine.

Im not concerned just curious

Thanks Dave

I feel it's the same on my 2011 DSG 2lt 170. I have owned a 1997 golf. Still own a 2005 Octy 1.9. Very much a chug chug fire

Mine is much the same, push button to start, engine fires within about one crank over.  In very cold weather the delay between pressing the button and starting is 1 - 2 secs longer .

Car has done 33,500.

Come to think of it I also have push button and there is a delay before cranking depending on how cold. But as the OP said the engine turns over more before firing for both of us.

My 2015 Superb Mk2 Starts within a half crank.  Whether I let the glow plugs finish their warming or not .  On one occasion as it taken a second or so to start - and it had been sat for a week without use in cold weather (airport car park).  I dont have keyless though.  It's done 42000 miles.

My 2014 1.6d starts (no Kessy) pretty much immediately - far faster than any other diesel I have owned. TBH, it still freaks me out a bit.

If its very cold and I turn the key without waiting, it may wait a second before cranking. As soon as it cranks though, it fires. In my case, its done 27,000 miles.
