Any plans for a more powerful petrol engine?

Featured Replies

As above really, any plans on putting to the 2.0tsi in the Karoq like the Ateca or Tiguan?  Interested in a Karoq to replace current seat Leon, but would ideally like a bit more power than the 1.5tsi offers and don't want to go diesel.

With the introduction of Otto particulate filters on all Skoda tsi engines, possibly as from bw31 for 2019 engine models so as to meet Euro 6 d standards, it is quite possible a 2.0tsi (180ps) 4x4 dsg will become available in a Karoc Scout.

I would have liked a 2.0 TSi 190, like in the Ateca.  Having said that, the 1.5 I test drove wasn't too bad if a bit screamy when revved.

In the end we decided that it's powerful enough for our 'family' car.

(I suspect that a 2.0 TSi would also have been stupidly expensive compared to the 1.5 TSi, what with marketing, EU mandated CO2 targets, etc.)

Thanks all, I'll hold out hope for a 2.0tsi or a vrs version.  I've seen the pictures of the Ateca Cupra and think it looks a bit tacky in places, hoping a Karoq version might be a bit more subtle.

Ah but,

that is not a SEAT Ateca Cupra.   there is a sub brand, a Sport division

that is a Seat CUPRA Ateca.

Subtle not being part of the marketing.   Hopefully 'Badge Deletion' is. All badges.

I think it’s actualy just CUPRA Ateca. No Seat anywhere in terms of branding.

Yes.  Like an Abarth 500,  nothing to do with FIAT.

There will be new CUPRA Plants with production lines just building CUPRA models. Or maybe not!

You can find it hard to fool many people anytime.

They are bringing out a VRS version in 2019

The dude presenting the concept at Geneva today said there will be '19 new models by the end of 2020'.

So that will be 3 or 4 variations of 6 'models' then.
