Couple of VT questions before I pull the trigger

Featured Replies

Hey all,

With somewhat of a heavy heart I'm looking to VT my 3 year old diesel Octy VRS (on a 4 year PCP deal) and switch to a new model Nissan Leaf*, but have a couple of questions for you guys that have done a VT previously...

1) After my April payment I'll owe all of £1.10 to hit the 50% paid threshold, so I figure I'll just pay that separately (assuming I can). My question, though, is are the payments taken for the month just gone or the month just coming? As in, can I pay the April payment and the additional £1.10, and have them pick up the car just before the May payment is due without owing any more?

2) I'm sure I've previously read (as in a year or two ago), that if you VT the car you don't get stung for additional mileage charges. I've gone somewhat over our original estimate and I was assuming that was still the case until I read another VT thread just now that suggested otherwise, so now I'm getting a bit worried. This is with VWFS, can anybody advise?

And that's it. Massively appreciate any help/advice. :)

* Alas, pushing my 40s and with two small kids I'm just not getting the most out of the Octy anymore, spending most of my time driving gently and avoiding potholes so as not to wake the little buggers. With the uncertainty around diesels thanks to dieselgate and the likelihood that their tax bracket is going to rise sharply, the Leaf just makes more sense for us right now. The fun of EVs being eeking the most out of the range rather than driving to the edge. I will miss this little club of enthusiasts though, even if I didn't stop by very often!
