Should the kodiaq be the flagship model?

Featured Replies

As above not sure what you guys think......not sure if Skoda needs a flagship model in the form of the superb

Are there many buying a Kodiaq for use as Private Hire Car / Taxi / Airport Transport use?

They should be making smaller lighter less polluting vehicles as the flagship model.

eg, Fabia Vanden Plas,   all the gear available and chrome trim / grill.

Charge £35,000 for them and watch the Driving Glovers / Blue Rinsers buy them.

Skoda Superb are the size of a flag ship!    Halo models or just damn expensive top of the range are often just a status symbol of badge snobbery.

Kodiaqs too big for many and actually just another Chelsea Tractor as used by many that need disabled or Parent Children parking places to get them in and get out of.

?

What do you mean,

do you mean they should not build any Superb's for those that want them or need them and are not into big SUV's.?

Well I was Hoping this topic would cause some conversation about flag ship models and if manufactures should have them. Does the size of the kodiaq make it flag ship model?

What are Flagship models?

Top of the range / most expensive?

Skoda needs to get EV's.  their concepts built, 19 new models (versions of 6 models) before the end 2020 as they spin.  Get a e-Citigo on sale.

Be ahead of the game not behind the curve.  VW are just talking the future, not very near it yet.

Having owned several Superbs and we had a Kodiaq Edition for 24hrs, (we were seriously considering one to replace the Yeti) the Kodiaq is nice, but is not quite up where the Superb is (that is not to diss the Kodiaq as apart from the well publicised issues that loads suffer from, it is a nice car)

With regards to “not sure if Škoda needs a flagship model in the form of the superb” I personally think it is a smarter move than that if it was a ‘big gas guzzling SUV’ (the image many of the public have of them)

I agree that  lower polluting option should be available (IIRC the Superb will be the first hybrid model they offer... albeit to little too late IMO)

Size alone does not make a flagship, quality and spec does.

Although the Superb is now falling behind on a few areas regarding spec... as it has been out nearly 3 years (LED lights, Active Dash etc) quality wise it is still at the top IMO the facelift will no doubt rectify the spec?

Agreed, they cannot even build the ones they have for sale (eGolf)

With the Golf GTE the demand is so great they  close the order books,  amazing low Co2 g/km.,    well if the 1.4 TSI engine is not actually being used.

So much VW Kidology.

With the VW Up GTI same thing, they underestimate the demand & it so high can not build enough, close order books, stop long waiting lists.

Instead build the e-Up! that is a sales flop.

Octavia Mk3 230 / 245 only Sporty ones, close order books, sort out the emissions.

Motorsport Heritage Success with Small Capacity Engines then AWD Fabia, then offer the only quick AWD Skoda as a Superb.   'Simply clever'.

None of this matters. The marketing bunnies decided that the flagship word is aspirational.  The Kodiak will soon be the "Flagship SUV". Wait for the Kodiak L&K to come out and then it will be the "Flagship Kodiak".

Hell, I got a great deal on a VW Up for my wife - a "High Up" with fancy wheels and "sport" pack and "the most powerful 75hp engine".  The salesman told me it was the "Flagship City Car".

"A Flagship! Well Goddamn!!" I thought. Who knew? So I walked straight up the first Audi A8 owner I could find, p1ssed on his leg and roared "I OWN you b1tch!".

I think you Kodiaq guys, sitting up there in your high seats looking down on the rest of us, may be getting a tad uppity. Remember, a Kodiaq is just a big bear that wipes it's butt with bunny rabbits. It's not fit for dinner parties. A Superb is just what says.

Not sure I see the connection to be honest :D

The Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), also known as the Kodiak brown bear, sometimes the Alaskan brown bear, inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. It is the largest recognized subspecies of brown bear, and one of the two largest bears alive today, the other being the polar bear.

Is it just me or have Skoda spelt Kodiak wrong!?

Lol, Chevrolet and Yamaha beat to Skoda to the original spelling then! :D

How long then until the Manager and Finance Directors parking place has a Vision-X sitting proudly parked.

Then it is available as a Ex Management car, 3,000 miles / 3 months old?

Probably a long time, so for now if you want that Ex Dealers own car you will just have to buy a Superb or Kodiak.

There are thousands on offer around the UK,  hundreds for every manager / dealerships it seems, you would think they would not have more then 4 a year each

and can only drive 1 at a time.
