Oook is this part of forum still alive?!

Since some members change their respective cars, I have feeling that this part of forum coming apart.

 

Does anybody know solution to the possible stupidest problem with my aftermarket parking sensors?

They are beeping(short beeps tough) while Im accelarating, and they have stopped when I disconect them.

In reverse mode they are working fine.

aftermarket parking sensors - it depends of the brand and how it is connected. In regards to connection; it should not beep when moving forward, couse  the live wire should be connected to reverse light - only in case if the connection is poor.

 

 

Yea, I know but it worked for 2 years and more without any problem.

I dont know what could be..

I'd put money on an earthing issue with the rear light unit containing the reverse light bulb

@bigjohn - maybe so. But if you don't have it in reverse, pdc module should not engage; if the live wire is connected properly to the reverse light.

Yes it will with an earth problem - voltage applied elswhere(other bulbs)  passes though the bulb to the "internal" earth on the rear light unit but if it's not connected to proper earth it will then pass through the reverse bulb to the + of the reverse bulb and partially try to run the reversing sensor unit.

 

Bad earths do very wierd things

 

Easy to test - try a temp seperate earth wire from something like the battery and connect it to the earth of the light unit

Ok, so today I had time to find a reason why my car isnt normal as it should be.  

I did check all wires and it seems thats everything ok, but I did wire again parking sensors and parking camera.

I did however had "luck", because my mother came in and she told me  that when I put pedal to the floor and rev up to 3500-4000 rpm reverse light bulb flickering. And parking sensors beep beep, even tough Im in neutral. My car has manual transmission and Im wondering maybe problem is reverse light switch sensor on transmission? What you all think?

I didnt read your suggestions on time, so I will try and test that tommorow, sorry for bad english and can you explain simplier this part: "connect it to the earth of the light unit"?

Interesting thought - reverse light switch, worth checking

 

It's a while since I've had my mk I so I can't remember how the rear light clusters are earthed (you could connect an earth wire to the neg side of a bulb holder to test) - I think the bulbs work OK when the light module is clipped out so I wonder if it's somewhere in the boot for each side(brown wire?). I know the person who bought mine so I'l ask to have a look. But I repeat - earths cause strange issues. When you revved up to 3500-4000  did you hold the car on the footbrake, if you had a bad earth that would do it!

 

Do all the rear lights work correctly? -  Earth faults generate wierd combinations and er flickering!

 

An example of wierdness - on an Escort (of the Ford variety) with a bad rear light cluster earth, a friends car used to cut out when the footbrake was applied - it was rear light clusters lack of earth triggering power to the anti run on valve  causing the engine to stall.

Small update.

Car continue to behave as its lost his mind!

It drives me crazy!

Now when Im in neutral reverse lights flickering non stop.

I create apointment at repair gay for tuestad 9 o clock and I will report what was problem if God permits and find out!

Tnx! I called my friend and he thinks problem is with reverse light switch!

And the problem to be bigger there are 2-3 versions of that switch, it will be fun week, I suppose!

That helps - it's around the reverse light switch (wiring or the switch itself)! [EDIT - same as your friends says]

Well it really was reverse light switch, we replaced it(10euros new) and now works, thanks for helping!
