Have an issue with my mk1 skoda octavia. The front shocks doesn't look right. It didn't look like this when I got the car 3 years ago. Took the plastic cover off and tried tightening the nut but the shock only rotated in its housing. What is the issue? I can notice a slight noise when accelerating/braking and it's cold out. 

 

 

 

 

Could it be this rubber part that is broken?

I replaced my rubber mounts as it was knocking when dropping in pot holes and sitting very proud as on your pictures but I unfortunately have the same issue!!!
