Irritating problem with drivers side electric window

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm hoping there is a simple explanation for this issue (I did a search but nothing seemed to be similar). When I first start the car the drivers window goes up and down okay, but looses the 'single touch' up and down facility. If I then pull the switch to up (with the window closed) and let the motor stop, the one touch facility returns......that is until I put the keys back in the ignition for my next journey when the issue is back again. This is only on the drivers side, the passenger side is fine. Is there a way to reset the windows or does this sound like a limiter switch fault or something?? As I say it's not life threatening but it is irritating. Any help or advice gratefully received.

Thanks

With the electrics on, press and hold the window down switch... Hold it for a few extra seconds after it hits the bottom.   Then, pull it to raise and keep it pulled a ew seconds after it is fully up. Do this to both sides, left and right. It SHOULD reset the windows but can take a few tries. They can fail again if you get water ingress. If it still doesn't work you might want to carefully remove and clean the switches terminals. If you are tempted to replace the switch, be aware, most cheap aftermarket ones are VW fitment so will illuminate red rather then green, for Skoda cars.

Thanks mrgf, that seems to have cured the problem. :) Happy again!
