Just ordered my 1.0 SE Tech

Featured Replies

Hi all just thought i would join in. After owning the Fabia SE for a couple of years we have decided to upgrade. Went up to the dealer yesterday to test out the Karoq and was well pleased. Went to order one in the spec I wanted and was told that they were like gold dust. However got  call today to say they had managed to source the 1.0 SE Tech in Quartz Grey and delivery should be in about 2 weeks woohoo cant wait!!

I have the 1.5 SE tech in Quartz Grey and love it, Much, much higher spec than the Fabia so i am sure you'll be very pleased and you've gone for the best colour

Have just done the spec on an Edition 1.5 TSI DSG with just about every extra. Spoke to the dealer. Estimated time from order to delivery between 4 & 5 months - crazy. This is putting me right off. My wife purchased a new Mini Countryman Cooper S late last year with all bells and whistles packs and extras available. Time from order to delivery 5 weeks. I know the 1.5 is popular, but come on, who is prepared to wait that long, no matter how good the car is.

I would suggest trying CarWOW if you don't want to wait for a factory order. I have been offered 6 cars available immediately, but they built my car in the nick of time and I decided not to cancel.

The more extras you order, the longer it tends to take. Not all components can be fitted or combined at all times. If you need expedited delivery you'll need to be flexible regarding options and colour.

I waited 12-months for a new Subaru back in 1998 - but then I really wanted it.

Fairly standard for deliveries to Australia with a month or two on a ship that stops at several drop off points on the way to us.

Four years back a guy in Queensland ordered an Octavia and something went wrong in the process and what arrived was not what he wanted.  New order placed so total elapsed time from initial order was near a year.

When the 2nd car arrived at the docks his region was being battered by golf ball sized hail and he was having kittens that it had been left out in it. That bit ended happily as there was no hail damage.

I wanted to order an SE tec but was told i had to have it on PCH not PCP

SE-Tech is aimed at the fleet/lease market. I ordered mine on a 2-year lease as I have no plans to keep the car come end of term. Leasing tends to work out cheaper than PCP over the same term, but you do lose flxibility.

The SE-Tech spec is rather good for a near base-model. About the only items I miss versus my Octavia VRS are Xenon headlights. Don't get me wrong - the SE-Tech's Halogen lights are perfectly adequate, but the Xenons on my 4-year old VRS are far better. I am happy to do without leather seats and big alloys as they add nothing to comfort.

Have to agree with Orville on both counts, PCH I've found works better for me but you are tied in for a set period with PCP you can hand the car back early and depending on the value get cash back towards your next car.

The SE Tech spec is good enough and after having an Octavia Elegance the only thing I think I am missing is Main beam assist and Leather trim, but I have gained Adaptive Cruise control and Front parking sensors.
