Skoda octavia mk2 vrs window stuck half way

So today opened my windows and the front passenger side only closed half way. It will go down but only closes halfway. Eventually  I got it to close its about 3cm from fully closed . But it was grinding and banging whilst closing an. I right thinking the regulator is gubbed or is it something I can fix myself.

It’s probably the regulator itself on its way out.

 

Very common on all VAG cars unfortunately
