All, Looking to get a family car and currently deciding between the follkwing 2013/2014 Audi A4 / A6 advant black edition 2013-2016 Skoda Octavia vrs estate 2013-2015 VW Tiguan R line Obviously all slightly different and I own a MK2 Octavia VRs having driven a MK3 vrs the other weekend it didn’t feel too dissimilar. Has anyone owned or have any thoughts good or bad on the above selection? All would be diesel and DSG/S tronic

Stolen: Race Blue Vrs Combi WA14YZU
In my experience stolen cars are often found near to the last point seen. If the ANPR camera was the last confirmed sighting then searching any roads off that road, lock ups/garages etc and any commercial areas would be well worth while. It’s not the normal sort of vehicle to be stolen for parts and stripped down or sent abroad so likely to be a local bell end rather then anything organised. Ask the police to make sure they do some research on the last camera it hit for any vehicles that may have been in convoy with yours - that may give the officers something to narrow down the search!

Bluetooth music streaming.
This is how I do it: Wait for phone to connect. Press the media button and then BT-audio. Then play music from my phone, making sure the volume on my phone is turned up adequately. Sometimes I have to press BT audio again for it to start coming through the speakers.

The vehicle has a full file of complete history, including original bill of sale from Bristos Skoda of Ipswich and has had a lot of the common issues resolved. The vehicle was only ever a stop gap for us until we could afford to upgrade and that time has now come. It has all the features such as; Air con Bluetooth media unit with sat nav Heated seats Electric windows and mirrors Air bags Being the Black Edition it has black alloys and tinted windows and the VRS body kit. I upgraded all the lighting on the front to LED / xenon look which increases the lighting output. Ideal first car as cheap to run, tax and insure but also perfectly viable as a small family car. Car is located in Stowmarket and available to view Test drives will only happen with the appropriate insurance cover. Air Con Compressor
I am in the same position. Had the car regassed last year and was fine. I have damage from a stone ( hazard of driving up and down a dual carriageway daily ) however my compressor on a 2011 VRS was also suffering from corrosion- mainly on the two ends of the compressor which are almost cylindrical. I was quoted £380 all in for a non genuine part. In all honesty by the time I decide summer will be over anyway!

Air con Condenser replacement
Thanks for the help! Unfortunately I’d have to get a garage to do the work as I’m not up to that skill level to replace. The car spends its life up and down the dual carriageway so it’s inevitable it would have happened and was only spotted on a recent remap upgrade with fault coding prior to the heatwave!

Air con Condenser replacement
Hi All Thanks to a stone I need a new air con condenser. I’ve been quoted £380 all in fitted for a non genuine part. I don’t want an eBay plastic copy but has anyone replaced one with a decent reproduction/non genuine part that was of good quality and can steer me towards a link or part number

Xenon bulb recommendations
That’s your opinion which your entitled to - like I said they don’t blind others on the FL and I mostly always drive at night. Clearly my xenons aren’t bright hence the change of bulbs after 12 years. I’m regularly blinded by brand new seats and Skodas and the like with LED bulbs all of which are ALOT brighter then the xenons in mine. My FL has drive round the corner headlights and automatic adjust probably unlike your pre face light which will just blind others The rating when you look at YouTube tests is more around the 5k not the advertised rating. Nothing wrong with my eyesight or making a suggestion on a forum that’s what this forum is here for so that people can share experiences good and bad. No need to be so negative.

Xenon bulb recommendations
I’ve recently fitted osram cool blue boost 7000k Massive improvement and although off road use only hasn’t presented any issues with MOT or dazzling other drivers which no one wants! This is on a FL VRs but I’m sure you’ll see improvements no matter what age the car.

Some help with xenon bulbs
All, I’d appreciate some help/views. I have today gone to change my bulbs from the originals to some upgraded osram D1S for what should be an easy job. However once the black disc is put on the new bulbs it’s a tight fit to get it closed and then when I try and put the bulb back in the only way it seems to fit leave the bulb on the wonk so the little silver connector is no longer at the bottom but has moved. Have I done something glaringly obviously stupid or is this how aftermarket bulbs fit? I would have thought if the silver connector was at the bottom prior to taking them out it would need to go back to that position?? is there a need to trim the little nodges off the black disc to ensure a perfect fit to the bulb? Id appreciate some advice the photo shows the only way I can seem to get them to fit but surely that would give an odd light pattern?

AUX input missing
My partners old 2007 seat Leon had a CD/Aux button. There was no Aux input visible within the car. I suspect if you were to pull out the head unit it’ll have a Jack at the back for AUX and you can then neatly feed that through the glovebox or ash tray or similar

Bulbs - fabia Monte Carlo
Hi all, Bought my partner a little Skoda fabia Monte Carlo - it’s a 64 plate. What bulbs to do I need for these for dipped and main beam - would H7 be correct?

W or Y's on speed rating
Having just taken budgets off my partners car a seat Leon which came with the car I would never ever advise getting them again. They wore poorly, cracked very quickly and the handling was appalling!! Tyres are the only thing in contact with the road surface and you should be very wary of sacrificing £50-70 for the sake of a saving by getting budget!

Brake set up renew
All, Car is due a service, cambelt/water pump and I’m having a white line RARB fitted very soon. I want to renew the brakes as they’ve not been done now since I’ve had the car ( 3 years ) The car spends a lot of time on dual carriageways and small B roads and I’m looking to get that nice bite back. What are the options I don’t want to stick OEM - any recommendations and direct link to the parts please? Give me an idea of what to opt for!

Should I inflate tires to 36psi?
You don’t state what car you have or tyre fitment. 36 would be on the higher side for something with a low profile tyre for example

Nice! Quantum is a generic map used by lots of tuners mostly mobile I believe. have you had it rolling roaded or just going off the quoted figures?

Instrument pod needle illumiation
That’s a great video - makes it look very easy although arguably he could ah e filmed the removal and refitting if the LED - that’s surely the most complicated bit! My Speedo dial hasn’t lit up for 2 years. Can still see my speed even at night so it’s never bothered me overly
