Upgrading Columbus NAVI unit (Maps and Firmware)

Featured Replies

Hello Gents.

Recently bought my 2011 Skoda Superb with Columbus Headunit and Bluetooth-connection. I am not able to enter the secret menu by holding in the "setup" button, but I removed the plastic trim and took out the headunit.

This info shows on the sticker:

3T0 035 680A
HW: H42
SW: 2724
S: 24.03.2011

I am not sure what software I currently have, but a map update and firmware update would be great (Mine seems a little slow) I have try to read up on my-gti.com, but I cant seem to find my headunit there (I can only find 1t0035680A and I dont know the difference between that and mine)  I would be thrilled if somebody could tell me which firmware I could most safely upgrade to and what map version I can use. Thanks in advance.

BR

1T0 035 680A is a VW RNS510 unit.

Your unit is fine to update to 5238 software (the software knows you have a Skoda unit and will update it accordingly), and the latest maps are V15.

Thanks for the clarification!

Then I will download 5238 software and run update with new maps. Thanks :)

I've just successfully updated my maps to V15 (2014 Superb 2, Columbus H10 hardware with 5238 firmware).

Just so people are aware - the update takes a long time. When I updated to V14, the time was about 34 to 40 mins. I monitored the progress by using the "quick press of the eject button" method and after the progress bar went all the way from right to left, it was done.

With V15, it did this progress bar at lease twice, I was worried it was in a fault loop. It did work though and I'd say the update took 2.5 times as long as V14.  This might be why some people give up and try the dodgy SD card tricks for map updates and risk bricking their units.

As rustynuts has said before here on the forum - take his advice -  just use the DVD and be patient.

One last note - I think the update finished after I parked the car last night. I expected to get a message when it was done, I didn't see one and it happily ejected the map DVD when i pressed the button this morning. I had to do a check of the version to verify it was installed successfully (the version reported should be 8515).

Hello.

Sorry for late response. Bought SW and V15MAPS on ebay. SW installation went flawless. However, MAP update was quite the hassle. Rns510 unit would not read the dvd, so I had to install via maps TOOL SW(SD Card and CD) Now everything is working as it should with newest map update.

Thanks for all the help.
