Michelin Energy +

Featured Replies

Have these  Michelin tyres been replaced by something else as OE on 16" rims? I recently found it difficult to source a matching tyre with a national tyre chain.

A pity that no one knows. I'd like to stick with them if thry are still being made.

Michelin Energy Saver + still shown on blackcircles with 205/55 r16 (v 91)

For me - I now buy the Michelin CrossClimate  as I found the Energy Saver lacked grip in the winter (not just snow and ice!)

Thanks. Blackcircles now seem to be the only stockist. The Formula 1 chain who did the actual fitting, said they could only get the BMW version of the tyre themselves as did National Tyres.

mytyres.co.uk also seem to have them

Thanks.  That confirms that so far only online stockists exist. Blackcircles used a professional looking garage whereas I've reservations about the untested mytyres local garages.

Just go into ATS Euromaster or some other Tyre & Exhaust centre they will get the tyre if not in stock from the Distributor sand have it there the next day.

I've used both in the past and they have been OK but I've noticed mytytres no longer use the garage that fitted my  tyres from them. Blackcircles use a great and convenient tyre fitting firm and have been great every time I have used them.

National Tyres, my preferred fitter, still are not listing Michelin Energy in my size. Wonder why?

Looks like I'll need to order from mytyres and get Formula1 to fit them. A slightly more tedious process though. And Formula1 didn't ask me what tyre pressure I wanted either- so low tyre pressure triggered.

^^^ Have you spoken on the phone to someone or called in in person as they look up on the screen and make a call to check availability?

No, but I'd rather search with an impartial machine rather than speak to a human being. But , when I was in National last time iirc they said"no"  hence my purchase from mytyres.

I was near National Tyres so I asked them about availability of the above. On back order and long delays of weeks/months.  They could not tell me the reason and would not snitch on Michelin even when prompted.

So Mytyres it will be for me in future. if they still use a decent fitter.

I note that both Mytyres and Blackcircles currently use Formula1, local to me in Chesterfield.

Apart from not asking me what tyre pressure I wanted, they are recommended.

Michelin Energy Saver + tyres are being phased out by Michelin.

They plan to run Primacy, Pilot Sport and the CrossClimate as tread patterns.

Mad if you ask me.

AGFalco, thanks for that information. I'd have thought car manufactures would need all the help they can get for the WLTP tests.

Ask your preferred tyre fitted if they can fit them for you if you supply the tyres to them.

You can then order tyres from Mytyres / delti.com for delivery only.

Blackcircles and Oponeo amongst others, can also supply only.

A similar tyre to the Michelin Energy Saver+ is the Continental Ecocontact 5.

I ran these Conti's for many years on a car and they worked very well.

Most major/top brand tyre manufactures make to many types of tread pattern in the same size if you ask me.

Thanks AG Falco

ATS Euromaster

ATS Euromaster are owned by Michelin.

That is why they always quote Michelin to you.

Thanks AG Falco

& why i get my BG Goodrich and TIGAR tyres  there, both companies are owned by Michelin.

They do not quote me for Michelin there, as i am not asking about Michelin which are made just down the road from me in Dundee.

It is good to talk to people that know about tyres, and parent companies.

(I used to get my tyres free fitted at Michelin on staff members perks, sadly none that worked there then are still there.)

Yes most big tyre manufactures have other brands that they own.

Bridgestone and Firestone

Continental and General

Pirelli and Courier

To name but a few.

Thanks AG Falco

As is discussed often enough in this section and others, and which can all be found using a search engine.

Funny how if you are interested in cars and tyres long enough the same old stuff keeps coming up.

Looks like Michelin are cutting production of smaller tyre sizes at their Dundee plant- because they can not cope with cheaper Asian manufacturers. Sad.
