New Fabia VRS & old tax disc

Featured Replies

Thanks to replies to my questions on this forum I am getting my Fabia VRS around 20 March. It is coming from the factory as I ordered xenons. What do I do about the unexpired portion of my VED? It is until end July so do I leave it or take for a refund? What is the etiquette for this?

Well having worked @ a dealership they probably wont notice until you've driven off!....and in any case you paid for the tax so just take it out...the dealer only sends it off for the refund like you will so why give them the extra money!;)

Yep, I agree. Cash it in mate, just take the tax disk with you when you leave the car there.

hi. and welcome.

cash it in, but this envolves posting it back to the DVLA, bunch of useless ar$e's

Why?

"useless ar$e's" ?

Last time I did this , the service was very efficient

Welcome, take tax disk out when you do your final, have i left anything in the car check.

they have been a nightmare in my experience, i owned my focus for about ten months and although they had all my details on record 4 V5's never got to me. i scraped my nova last year and they put it on the system and moaned at me so i wrote them a letter and they 'never recieved it' and moaned again. have sent another letter but waiting for the next letter of complaint. had a similar thing with my sierra.

Considering you can pay your tax now online, wouldn't it be nice if you could put in your existing reg, and declare it no longer on the road, stick in your debit card number and hey presto, automatic refund  :P

I like the idea of an on-line refund! I paid my tax on-line in July and it was very easy and quick to get my new disc.

When I get my new Fabia I will remove the tax disc as you all have suggested, many thanks, folks!

Yeah I find them very efficient and most apologetic when an error is pointed out.

I use them a lot. Everytime I leave the country for over a full month I send in my tax disk on a downloaded SORN form. Then just before I come home I re-tax the car online.

You cannot get the refund online because there are those who (unlike me) would get a refund and still keep the tax disk in the window!

Will
