Roof rails

Featured Replies

Hi . Has anybody fitted roof rails to there Roomster . If you do it with the manufacturer,s kit , it looks like it could cost pushing £400.00 . By the time you bought the rails , bars and " fixing kit ".  I really can't afford that . I was wondering if it possible to fix the rails without the fixing kit , or if anybody has fitted some universal fitting bars . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.  Dave .

Hi Electricdave,

Have a rummage through the Roomster section, there's been plenty of posts about doing this on a DIY basis, if I recall correctly someone had/has the c£90 template for marking out and drilling the holes, I also recall they said there's captive nuts welded inside the roof at the exact spots below where you'll drill through, gather one rust-protects the bared steel, then applies seal gasket mounts, and attach the rails with proprietary fixings and blanking covers.

But don't take my word for it, check and double-check before you commit to doing this. Or consider finding a similar used Roomster that's got factory-fitted rails, like I did.

BTW if you do this and are looking for Thule aero-bars, I have a pair of those and a Thule bike carrier for sale.

Richard.

Found It!
