No response from central convenience module

Featured Replies

Hi.

First of all, thanks for a great forum.

I have read a lot here but cannot find the answers to my questions in this case.

I had a problem with my 2006 Octavia mk2, where the trailer connector wouldn't work.

I checked the fuses, tried to measure the voltage levels with a voltage meter but could not get it to work so I suspect the contacts in the connector.

After this the car wouldn't lock with the remote.

Tried locking with the key but it only locks the drivers door so I got hold of a diagnostics cable and the CarPort software to do a scan.

This revealed that the convenience module (46) is not responding, with a series of other faults related to this (car locks, gateway cannot communicate with convenience module etc).

I have tried to disconnect the battery for a while, I also disconnected the module but there were no indication of water or corrosion.

Can the convenience module have taken damage from me pulling the fuse to it?

A couple of questions:

  • Is there a specific fuse for the convenience module that I need to check before doing anything further? I cannot find one in the users manual.
  • If the convenience module is in fact toast, can I replace it with a replacement from ebay with the same part number (1K0 959 433 AK)? Do I need to code/adapt it (of course I cannot read the memory from the old one)?
  • Is there a higher end module I can get instead to upgrade the functionality?

Best regards

Petter
