Service history/ online service records

Featured Replies

Help.,

I bought a 66 plate Octavia vrs on PCP in January, now my real question is do I have to use the main dealer for services, so they can up date the online records or can I simply request a service history book from them and take my car to the garage I've used for years that I trust,

Has anybody else come across this and what was your outcome.

No you do not need to use a main dealer for servicing.

Buy a Service Book from Ebay or the likes if Skoda will not sell or give you one.

Maybe use a VW Independent garage with all the gear and an idea / licensed equipment and trained technicians.

Protect your Manufacturers Warranty, you need to use OEM parts at VAT registered establishments and service to VW Group recommendations / guidelines.

Sometimes Skoda struggle to know what those actually are, they certainly do not always follow them....

I'll echo that last statement and add - same goes for VW, Audi and SEAT

If you get the MySkoda app then you can print off the Skoda  dealer service record.  Out of dealer network service, proof may be difficult.

Keep the itemised invoices and there is your proof.

Not a problem if you keep all the receipts.

Full Main Dealer Service History is proof that someone ticked the boxes, not carried out Servicing or Inspections to Manufactures Recommendations or even Guidelines.

No guarantee that Haldex or DSG Servicing was done as per Schedule, as many find out that trust the Full Main Dealer Service History on adverts for Used / Preloved / or even Abused vehicles.
