1.6 diesel remap

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has had their 1.6 diesel remaped and what improvements it made my car is a dsg so is there a limit to the amount of torque they can take? This is an online quote just from imputing my reg also any recommendations in the Kent area would be helpful

Being the well known dry DSG7 DQ200 with all its limitations and problems that has a limit of 250Nm for optimal performance vs heat would not recommend it.

Not great news then oh well thanks was hoping to improve the fuel economy more than the power side of things

Hi, had my 2ltr remapped @ JR Tuning Sittingbourne, good results and dyno. Give them a call and discuss your options.

Yes, but that is a 2L engine, and a more powerfull wet DSG clutch, very different story.

A few questions you may want to ask yourself

1 - How much would that re-map cost me?

2 - How much more mpg after the re-map?

3 - What's my annual mileage  ?

4 - How much will my insurance increase?

I'd very much doubt anyone saves money by having their car re-mapped.

Which is why I said............Discuss options!

DSG can't handle it...

Exactly. the options are... don't :). You can... it's possible... riscky ...

And anyway.. don't know about fuel economy improvements. Numbers will probably go high not low.

Tweaked my 1.4 TSI to 203bhp & 323Nm all of that went through my DSG7 DQ200 for 42k miles without once missing a beat.

The 250Nm torque limiter is only in 1st & 2nd gear (which does actually help get away at roundabouts) once I to 3rd you'll get all 310Nm of fun.

BTW. Having tuning boxed & mapped many cars, fuel efficiency has never been the reason or reward for any of them. More power equals more fuel simply because you'll use it even, when you say you won't

Based  on TMWNA's  thorough on-road torture test of his DQ200 I tend to agree that a remap of a 1.6d is not guaranteed to end in tears.

Most of the DQ200 problem stories I have heard told in Australia (post the widespread wrong oil issues) are from users who claim they have worn out their clutch packs in normal, presumably heavy slow moving traffic.

My uneducated theory is that Aus drivers are used to torque box autos and drive their DSG equipped cars in a similar way (riding the brake and burning out the 2nd gear clutch) whereas Brits are more used to manual boxes and drive their DSG as an automated manual.

I agree with previous posts that you don't get a remap for improved economy....unless you have had the emissions fix applied and consumption has taken a marked turn for the worse.
