Alloy options

Featured Replies

Hi - never 100% taken with my white 17" alloys.. happy with the size, width, and rubber on them, not 100% happy with colour & style. Also they're a true pain to keep clean.. lots of hard to reach places.

Cleaned the alloys on wife's new 1 series BMW yesterday & took about 1 min per wheel. That's what I'm After !!

Anyone care to suggest alternatives to what I've got? I could get them refurbed & painted.. but fancy a change too

FYI - wife's alloys: bmw-1-series-120d-xdrive-m-sport-5dr-ste

no little hidden places, miles fewer spokes.. all helps come the annual wash!!!!

The world is your oyster, no shortage of after market wheels available, just down to you as to what you like & what you think will be easy to keep looking good, there is plenty of choices.

Does it still have these wheels?

I think they are nice in titanium grey, if you got them stripped and painted.

Yes it does. .. albeit with a shed more curbing damage :(

Best find wheels that can have tyres fitted with reinforced sidewalls and more bulge for touch parking.

what tyres are on with those wheels now, 215/40 R 17?

I'm looking at some mobile repair & paint firms. I need the car on the road so cant have it wheel-less for a week etc.

I think anthracite might look good. At least wont show the grime so much!

Why not sand them down yourself and paint with rattle cans (Plastikote)

or use 'Plasti Dip'. Take you half a day. Or try one with 'Plasti dip' as a trial.

They have been painted before anyway have they not?

I've got a 1 wife, 2 jobs, and 3 kids under 10. What I've not got is ever an bl**dy time.

10 years ago - absolutely !

BTW yes 215 40 17 correct !

I like the idea that they come to me whilst I'm at work (Bracknell) :)

I know one operative with a franchise that does great 'wheel repairs', but not 4 wheel colour changes in the van.

I'm after 'the Holy Grail' then !

Just a local Paint Shop / business that removes tyres, blasts wheels and paints or powder coats and refits and balances all in 1 day.

surely there is the likes in your area.

Nice... As long as they don't take two weeks doing them!

I was gonna suggest getting a set of those BMW rims, with adaptors if (Most likely) Needed. just slip some Skoda centre caps back in, Bob's your -well, you know the rest!

I have often thought a set of Beemer wheels might go nice. Raise a few eyebrows, too!

(Keep the wheel caps and swap the bonnet n boot ones for BMW, that'll drop a few jaws, too).

I'll post a pic end of next week when done. REckon it's the most budget friendly way to spruce up the car & make a nice change from white.

Love the stance of your car as it is, and how it handled, it is how the cars should have come from the factory IMO,

and i think the colour change will be nice.

it IS a hoot to drive. Bit crashy - springs too stiff (what WAS Andy thinking?!?!) - but a proper giggle.

I've done about 20K miles in it + still really pleased with the car.
